We sat down with bet4gamers veteran Jonathan "MusambaN1" Torrent and asked him about his team's performances in the group stage.
bet4gamers are through to the playoffs at GameGune 2010 after topping their group with a perfect record following wins over eLogic Gaming, DELTA and k2.
The former Ledpc team, who picked up an impressive +56 Round Difference in the group stage, are hoping to go far in the tournament after finishing in third place last year.
"It is true that I am happy with our displays, we expected more from Delta, a priori they were our strongest opponent, but the Frenchmen beat them, which was a surprise," Torrent told HLTV.org.
We just wanted to play our game, so yes, we are very happy with the results we had in the group stage.
"We hope we can do better or at least get the same top 3 placing we managed last year, but let me tell you, we spent many hours to try to improve on this placing, so let's see how it will go."
Torrent is one of the few players on show to know the taste of lifting a GameGune trophy, and he confessed that formula behind x6tence's success in 2006 was their stability.
"If x6tence won in 2006, it was because we had a very solid group, we had been playing with the same line-up for a long time," he noted.
"Since then I do not think any Spanish team have done anything as big as x6tence did back then, we are on that path, but I think that the key to x6tence's success was the very closed team we had."
Although Torrent does not consider his team as favourites for the event, he stressed his side cannot be written off, saying: "I think Na'Vi will always be up there, fnatic too, but I think if we play like we know, we can cause some surprises."
